One of the most expressive coral cameos we’ve had to date! We love this mid to late 19th century bezel set beauty. Likely an animated rendering of Ariadne, the wife of Baccus, this sculptural example is in excellent condition for her age, while maintaining an impressively high relief rendering, which incredibly survived the past 150 years unscathed. Likely American in origin, the subtle variation in coloring found on the cameo exemplifies the beauty of this material, reminding the wearer of its organic origin. With its weighty band and slick bezel setting, this ring will be a mainstay in whatever collection she goes on to join.
