A stunning 1880’s-1890’s 14ct and 10ct gold amethyst double tassel brooch is a beautiful example of Victorian modular fashions. With no less than three additional hooks on the reverse it can be worn on a ribbon via the top hooks, perhaps on a chain, as a brooch on any part of the costume, or with the addition of a pocket watch, tassel, or chatelaine if desired by connecting to the “s” hook. As we appreciate the front of the piece we see that the sizable oval amethyst is the central element of a blooming flower. I love all of the scrolling fretwork and the certain playful element to this brooch. Likely American and possibly San Fransiscan in origin, we are so in love with this versatile treasure. It will be worn again and again in whatever collection it goes on to join.
