What is so exciting to me about these wonderful rose cut diamond and ruby bow earrings, which are finished with an old mine cushion cut diamond at the top of each, is that they are exemplary of the 1860’s fanciful stylization that was common for jewelry to emulate textiles: we often find floral patterns, lace patterns, and ribbon work made in gold and encrusted with jewels that echoed the sensibilities of textiles and fashion of the 1860’s. These very playful bow medallions are just so delicious, I negotiated long and hard to bring them into the Curio and I’m very excited to have them. They are simply outstanding.
