We acquired this exemplary Art Deco-Belle Poque transitional era diamond brooch in London. It is topped in sterling and in 18ct gold, and would have been a part of a modular jewelry wardrobe for someone who was very wealthy. The graphic starburst design harkens back to the Louis XIV “Sun King” motif, which was something that was really researched and beloved at the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries. What’s really so exceptional about this example is that you have so much diamond weight at about 2.5-3.0ctw. The entire backing comes off and can actually be fitted onto a tiara, so you could wear it as a brooch or you could wear it on your tiara. It would be an incredible bridal piece or a really amazing special occasion heirloom treasure that would be appreciated and passed down through generations.
