An outstanding example of the finest Art Nouveau craftspersonship, this beautiful bee boasts ten old mine cut diamonds, two shining ruby eyes, and an immaculate baroque pearl. We have never before had the pleasure of handling a piece with aquamarine gioshe enameling or a ribbed lily pad setting of a rare pearl like this, and are so excited to bring this rare jewel to market. This is a very versatile piece; the brooch mechanism unscrews to allow the insect to be worn as a hair ornament while the brooch fitting has two “o rings” that could serve as pendant loops. A classic Belle Poque to Art Nouveau transitional piece, insect accessories were widely popular at the turn of the 20th century but few examples remain, especially at this caliber.
