Every so often, we acquire a jewel that is so exemplary, it renders our atelier speechless. This superb bracelet is one such example. Featuring a multitude of onyx sugarloaf cabochons interspersed with sparkling single cut diamond accents, this exceptional bangle is a benchmark of 19th century craftspersonship. Featuring a small owl hallmark, indicating its creation in France for export, its bangle’s 18ct frame has been so lovingly detailed. We are simply enamored of it. The scrolling paisley that fancifully decorates the closed gallery on either side is simply breathtaking. A marker of French 19th century Orientalism, while the diamond encrusted buckle recalls the classic Victorian sentiment of friendship. Often misconstrued as having romantic or even erotic sentiment, buckle jewels were commonly a symbol of friendship, of the deep bond of familial affection. I am very excited to place this gorgeous jewel in her new home.
