I came by this piece in late 2019; it was the first ancient jewel I had ever acquired in its entirety. A substantial yet delicately sized Roman ring, this exceptional hand-hewn antiquity was likely a pinky band. Jewelry of the ancient world was more often than not amuletic in nature, and this ring is no exception. Set with a bullseye carnelian agate, the symbolism is potent: the stone would have warded off the evil eye, rendering the wearer immune to malicious intent. I have worn it on days when I’ve felt the need to focus, to not worry about the opinions of others, and to let this band perform her subtle magic as I go about my life. She’s brought me great joy and I am very excited to pass her onto her new home.
