What’s so incredibly rare about this Pre-Hellenistic faience scarab is not only is the stone over 2000 years old, but his band is original as well, and this is the first example with an intact shank we’ve had the pleasure of offering in the Curio. Reset later in the Victorian era, this scarab remains one of the most fantastically well preserved ancient scarabs we have handled. The gold tests positively at 22ct or higher, and the massive forest green stone is such a statement - he is ready to hang in all of his pendulous glory from your favorite chain, or sit on a stately digit as the ultimate memento-mori jewel.
