This fantastic cameo was likely rendered in the 1840’s or 1850’s, commemorating Charles X’s brief but exceptional reign during the restoration of 1824-1830 after the Napoleonic Empire. The cameo was likely made in France and brought back as a souvenir to England, where it was set in its elaborate, caned bezel setting. This large scale cameo came to us as a stick pin, at which point we carefully converted it into a sumptuous ring. This is a very commanding piece and would be a dramatic statement acquisition for any collection.
