A stunning Elizabethan Revival brooch is a truly exceptional portrait cameo. Perhaps depicting a noblewoman, it is in excellent condition with rose cut diamond accents. The woman in the portrait not only wears a drop earring and modest pearl necklace, she also sports an additional brooch as well as two other necklaces. This piece is reminiscent of a Dutch masterwork featuring the most incredible hand rendered lace ruff; the attention to detail paid in the carving of her immaculate costume make this cameo a stand out among similar Victorian examples. What’s so special about this particular brooch to me is the delicacy of the rose cut halo: it has that geometry that mid to late 19th century jewelry is famous for. This special cameo is classic and would be right at home in any collection.
