A rare and superb Archaelogical revival book chain of 20" that will simply delight all who encounter it. With links that alternate between beautiful, flat, disc-like links, and larger, puffy caned links with delicate spiraling at the center, this chain holds a certain je-ne-sais-quoi!
To look at my curation of 19th century jewels, one might think that nothing but Archaeological Revival jewelry was produced- but that is very much so not the case. I've been accused, as a curator, of having a certain idea about 19th century decorative arts, and can assure you, it is very much the truth that I believe women rebelled in a silent way in wearing neo-classical jewels that cut the fashions of time down to size, recalling a time when free flowing slips of fabric replaced corsets--all the while understanding the fantasy of this notion of former golden age. This necklace, and many of the other chains I'll bring to market this week address this fascination.
