The Long Guard or Muff chain is a staple of any antique jewelry collection. This substantial 62” chain was just as dazzling in the 1890’s as it is today, with its immensely hefty and sensual links, this extra long chain is oh so versatile, and able to be worn in a multitude of ways. Originally designed for holding muffs, a cylindrical outerwear accessory made of fur or fabric, designed to keep the hands warm, the chain enabled the wearer to remove her hands from the muff without losing it.
