This large onyx pendant adorned with 14 seed pearls is a beautiful example of American chalcedony craftsperson-ship. Shaped into a marvelous oval cut with a concave table facet, this piece exemplifies the stylistic transition from the 1860’s geometric style to 1870’s aestheticism in its ornamentation. The gorgeous black enameled bail, set with the largest pearl in the composition, speaks to the geometric style with its simplified leaf design, and the delicate 14ct symmetrical double hearts, encircling pearl trefoil flowers, and separated by a row of pearls, harken to the aesthetic movement of the 1870’s. This piece is a knockout, weighting at 15g and 6mm high, it will become the center of your jewelry box.
